My girlfriends picanto 1.0 2006 reg has started making a squealing noise on start up for a few seconds. Is this likely to be one of the belts slipping? If so which one?
The cambelt needs changing soon due to it being 6 years old and I was wondering what a normal cost to replace this at a KIA/independent garage would be? Thanks Chris |

Dont think it will be cam belt, more likely the alternator belt.

Thanks Davy is the alternator belt another term for the fan belt?
I am guessing that it might need tightening. |

Yes that was the old name for it when a belt driven fan was used to draw air through the radiator, its now called an auxilliary belt as the cooling fan is electric and attached to radiator.

It's defently the alternator belt mine had the same issues until I tightened it up .
