Hello Everyone:
Car: Optima (Magentis) 2004 2.4L Problem: Rough Idle in Drive. Idles smoothly in Park and Neutral. Good car in every other respect. Idle RPM in Neutral and Drive: approximately 750 rpm. RPM rises to 800 rpm when air conditioner compressor engages IF car is in Neutral. RPM DOES NOT RISE when air conditioner compressor engages IF car is in Drive. RPM DOES NOT RISE when shifting from neutral to Drive. Stays at 750 rpm. This is where rough idle is felt. If I press the acellerator pedal enough to increase rpm to 1000, then I do not feel any rough idle. I know the "Target Idle" rpm is supposed to rise as the load increases when the engine is idling. I am mainly wondering: "WHY IS RPM NOT RISING WHEN I PUT CAR IN DRIVE???" Any ideas out there? Thank-you for reading this. |
