Hi all.

My 2007 has a very annoying problem.
The remote locking doesn't work. I've tried replacing the battery with a good one with no luck. The light on the key works but the car does not react.

One problem though is the car has a different key to operate the lock in the driver's door. This key is a plain key with no buttons on it.

The key used to start the car is the original Kia key with the buttons on it.

Does anyone have any advice?

Does the central locking work when you use the odd key in the driver's door?

There is an implication that the driver's door lock has been replaced for come reason.  Perhaps the old lock was faulty or damaged, and perhaps the replacement has not been installed correctly.

Yes, the central locking works fine in the driver's door lock and the button on the dash locks/unlocks all doors too.
Just the button on the key does nothing other than light up the red light on the key.

Sounds like a fault with the Remote Transmitter in the Key or the Receiver in the Car BCM.

Or the two need pairing. Not sure if there is a DIY method on the Ceed.
Other Cars I have had used Ignition Switches and Remote presses.
You could try an Auto Locksmith.

There are 3 active Parts in the Remote Key
The Blade
The Immobiliser Chip that allows the Car to be started
The Remote that unlocks the Car and switches off the Alarm
