Well I got the Soul Echo in to the dealership this week and yes it was the glow plugs at fault. Don't know if that's something for others to keep an eye on as mine was brand new at the end of June this year and has only done 4500 miles? Anyway all is well again and I'm falling in love all over again Approve!!

If I don't get the opportunity nearer the time I wish all a very Mery Christmas and a Happy 2012!

Was this covered under your warranty or did you have to stump up the cash?

-2 here, outside all night and covered in ice, started first touch. If yours dosent do this - have it checked under the warranty.

Well it's up to them what they choose to do or use for replacement parts with my car! They're the mechanics......not me!

Glad it's sorted Hoggy.....my Tempest lives on the drive (I can't get in the garage let alone the car) and have not had a problem, -10 last year and still started first time. 99% of the time, I use ASDA diesel but saying that, ASDA's forever got a tanker on the court filling up so fuel moving all the time.

I still say you won't go far wrong using BG244, this stuff is not a fuel additive in the sense of making your fuel better, its there to clean away the diposits left by the burnt fuel, cleans your injectors, egr valve, catalytic converter and so on.  It will certainly do your vehicle no harm at all just for those that may wish to preserve the life and efficiency of there vehicles.  I will say though that this will not be for everyone and all will not agree I'm sure but if it helps just one person then job doneThumbs Up

I would not use the additive in my Tempest,I agree with anchorman it does not need it and according to tests done by Which it does not do any good though the BG244 was not one of the additives tested.I have had no problems with starting at all and even though my mileage has reduced now,I only have 27.6 k on it , it is driving well now.The engine has loosened up now and is really good apart from recent fuel consumtion which because of the shorter runs I am doing has dropped to 42mpg.
I had to attend a speed awareness course in Hull this week after being caught at 39mph in a 30 area, just letting the car slow itself down in a place called Beeford which is a real one horse village on the A165. It was a pathetic course ,it cost me £95 but at least I did not get the three points. Some of the others had been done at 34mph which I think is bad,18 people on the course times three courses that day is not bad money in the pocket of the local police!. They did the course just to get the money and mised a real chance to do the job properly with a decent course content not just the token gesture they did . I know that I should have been doing 30mph but here in East Yorks the roads have no common comparison between them and the other village before is 40mph.
Can I wish you all a HAPPY CHRISTMAS and all the best for THE NEW YEAR

Hi, I have a Kia Soul Samba that's 3 years old this September & for the past 2 winters has been a pain to start in the mornings.  Last year it spent a total of 12 days over 3 weeks in the dealers whilst they tried to fix it - they replaced the immobiliser & key batteries & claimed it was fixed but it wasn't so I gave up & as the weather stopped being damp & cold the starting improved.  Until this winter.... it's been in the dealers twice for a total of 5 days. They said it was the glow plugs and have replaced them - this is the 4th diesel car I've had so I know to let the glow plugs go out before starting the car - but it still won't start first time.  It's now due back in the dealers next week but I'm not holding my breath that it will be fixed.  There doesn't seem to any real mechanics out there anymore, the hook the car up to a computer and if it doesn't show a fault (computer says no), well there is no fault!  I'm just glad it's still under warranty but the way things are going it will be out of warranty before the fault is fixed. Smile

sorry you are having issues...... keep batting on at the dealer, the cars start fine in the cold (i have seen one start at minus 39 degrees) on a forum.
