Just realised we had a very similar problem to this on a G o l f TDi in about 1996. It was a vacuem sensor pipe that was a little short and sometimes kinked as the engine rocked. Dealer obviously knew all about it, simply re-routed pipe and it was fine for the next 6 years.

Thanks for the reply, I don't think that this is the same problem as it is affecting most cars with the 1.4 Eco engine and occurs even when gently accelerating off a trailing throttle at reasonably high revs.

Hi all,
The day before I took the car in, the problem went away, and it behaved perfectly on the day, and since.
. The master technician took my car out, then took a new one out, and reckoned that they were the same. Obviously that was no surprise, as the car was behaving. I have an arrangement that if the problem returns, I can drive in at any time and they will test drive it. In the circumstances, I can't argue with that. The dealer replaced the heater control module to fix the EPS switching off, and also did the boot floor mod.
I still love the car to bits!
Bob
PS Thanks Paul. I have checked that all the sensors are plugged in properly and that the hoses are OK but I intend to have another look. It could be something like that.

I took the liberty of using google to translate Domingo's post. I think he has a problem with the power dropping when it is very hot!!!
Trasnslation Hi I have the same problem, but 'my manifests itself when he is 6 hours in the sun, my diesel is 14 for the first 500 meters loses some |

Hi All,
More information on the throttle lag problem. I have just completed a round trip from Lincolnshire to Surrey and back, some 400 miles, via A46, A1, M25, A3. The throttle lag syndrome was not there when I started out on the journey.
By the time I was returning on the A1, there was no acceleration available in 5th or 6th gear at anything below 2000rpm unless a large change of throttle position was applied, then it accelerated quite well. If I tried to accelerate from, say, 2000 rpm in 5th, it was fine. Acceleration in 4th at 1500 rpm is good. Once off the A1 and after negotiating roundabouts on the A46, the problem disappeared and in local use it is fine, accelerating well in all gears from as low as 1500rpm.
Any thoughts anyone??????????? My problem is that I cannot demonstrate the problem to the dealer, because it has gone away when he test drives it.
Bob
PS For the economy gurus, on the journey, the trip confuser showed an average mpg of 60.0, but from previous tests of fuel used against mileage, I reckon that is about 3 mpg optimistic. I cruise at an indicated 70mph wherever possible.

Hi All
Having the same problem with delayed accelaration here as well. Bought the car 2 weeks ago and its done 2000km so far. It seems worse in 4th and 5th gears. I press the pedal, it thinks about it for a few seconds then reacts. Is this a real problem or is it some sort of design fault? Mala. |

Have same problem as most on here, in that car hesitates for a second or two before picking up. Seems worse in warm weather-didn't have it much in winter. Same on Esso diesel as it is on supermarket fuel. Tried additive, but this made no difference. Sometimes if I have to restart on a hill, I have an uneasy second or two while the car thinks about it-hesitates-and then picks up. Also occasionally have had problem when abs and power steering does not operate when I start up. A restart usually cures it. Finally turbo has twice not kicked in. Presume the software needs sorting out. Hopefully KIA will have a cure when I take it in for its yearly service.
Otherwise a nice roomy mpv supermini, which, contrary to some opinion, can actually move quite quickly when pushed.

My diesel venga too has similar problems. Usually drives and pulls well but on longer drives and on inclines sometimes shows similar symptoms and will not pull especially in 4, 5, 6 gears.
If this were like an older car of 30 years ago I would say the thottle is sticking and extreme pressure on the pedal suddenly frees it.
On a similar theme after driving along at relatively low speed if I take my foot off the throttle the car will gently accelerate under its own steam before reverting back to a tickover speed below 1000rpm. I too suspect that a remap may cure it and I will be pursuing this with Kia
