Yep, the Contis are noisey feckers alright. When it's time to change it won't be contis that go back on. They seem to be very hard though so it may be while until they go. Never had problem with grip though, even on very wet, greasy roads.

Well I've been reading along and following this thread for what seems like an age. I know you blokes have had terrible trouble with your Vengas and I feel for you. Nobody wants that sort of crap from a car. I had a similar experience with a Grand Scenic some time ago......Never again!! I was following the thread because the Venga looked like such a nice motor and I was looking at maybe buying one. However your problems eventually put me off and last week I part x'd the Carens for a 58 plate Skoda Roomster 1.4tdi with the VW pd engine. It's a lovely motor, bags of room, doing about 48 mpg round town. Last night driving like an anorak I got 67.4 mpg coming home from work through town! It was midnight and no traffic.
One more thing if I put my foot down it flies. Something apparently lacking in a lot of Vengas. I do hope you all get your motors sorted.Dave. |

Hi Demag,
Glad you are enjoying your skoda, i have 2 friends that have them here.
I have eventually had my 1.4crdi venga replaced by kia with the new facelifted venga which now comes with their impressive 1.6crdi engine,it produces 114bhp over the 1.4 s 89bhp,and absolutley motors along, and i can abuse it and still get 50mpg on the runs about town.
There is also a stack of torque from this engine, something which you didnt really expect a lot of i nthe 1.4,but it felt lacking nevertheless.
Im happy now with what i have been given, and glad that kia had put this engine in the venga, i only hope they can heal the repautation of the diesel venga.
They have only thought for reasons unknown, putthe 1.6crdi in the venga 3 spec, leaving the 1 and 2 spec with the 1.4crdi- presumably modified to run properly???
Happy motoring with the Roomster.
James.

Its been a good outcome for you James. The 1.4 is way too underpowered for that car and others too.

Good morning everyone, We've tried to do a general response to address as many posts as possible on the forum. Kia Motors UK Ltd is aware that some drivers are still experiencing drivability concerns with their Venga 1.4D, these can include an engine knocking noise or an occasional flat spot. Kia Motors launched a revision in September 2011 which has proven successful on the majority of cars. We appreciate that some customers still remain disappointed; however we would like to reassure you that our factories are working to see if further improvements can be made. As soon as further information is available, we will let you know. The decision to remove the ISG on the Venga 1.4D 1 and 2 was taken as an improvement in engine efficiency meant that it was no longer needed for the car to fall within its low tax bracket. It was not an attempt to resolve the issues mentioned above. The ISG remains in the Venga 1.6D because it has a positive affect on this cars tax banding. If there is anything customer services can do to help, please let us know. Thanks Kiacust svs for posting this.
It shows that Kia are responding to this issue, and care, i know i did feel slightly pushed to the side and not taken seriously when i was asking the dealership initially for assistance with the problem, but i now realise that the issue seems like no other Kia technicians had experienced and is one of those problems that are intermittent and difficult to find, i know it took me an afternoon of driving around with a kia technician in the passenger seat with his diagnostics gizmo plugged in for him to see what i was talking about, not every one has or can do this.
I for one would be very interested to know what the issue was once you have resolved it, it is certainly a mind boggler!
Thanks again,
James.

And also good to hear facts rather than us all guessing.
