Wife and myself both have Blackberry's (8750's). Had the Sportage for three months now and have never had a problem. Better go and find some wood to touch.

It gets better....all that happens with mine is that it crashes my blackberry every time i start the car with bluetooth paired. It then takes 10 mins watching the little white line running acrosss the BB screen while it reboots, what a pile of junk Kia have installed

Which BB do you have and what firmware do you have installed ? Also do you have the latest version of the KIA firmware installed ?
Reason I ask is that I have the BB 9900, with latest Firmware and the current -1 KIA firmware and the 2 pair OK usually, with the Sat-Nav sometimes giving an error message about running low on memory.
The above issue is supposed to have been fixed with the latest KIA firmware version.

I have the BB9780 running v6.0. The car was new on 61 plate (sept) should I be seeking a firmware upgrade? I guess it will tell me what version the car is running somewhere on the system

Hey toolpusher - read the manual and followed your example and am now so hands free and voice dialling. I think the car likes my suffolk/scottish accent. It will all go Pete Tong no doubt if i update something.

I had the blue and me system in a punto hire car. Was so impressed. They have set a high standard with that system. Big smiles all round as it read out my text messages.

My BMW (3 series) has Bluetooth fitted. The connection is great with my iPhone however the display is terrible.it's shown on the radio in orange , It's so crap to operate you wouldn't believe. The phonebook is displayed in reverse and the voice activation is unfathomable, however you just have to get on with it and work with the system. My wife has a fiat 500 and the blue and me wipes the floor with it.

HTC desire would not connect again for love nor money!! Pulled the battery on the phone and did a soft reset, connected right away think we are too quick to blame the car when I think its mostly down to the phone

Hi Guys,
This is my first post in this forum so treat me gently LOL
We have just taken delivery of our second KIA Sportage, this one is a non sat KX3.
Great car as before, we love it.

One problem is the Hands Free system which appears to force outbound calls to be made via the hands set (obviously a complete no no) I have a Blackberry Torch 9800 with version 6.0.0.448 firmware bundle 6.4.0.210, bluetooth version 1.1 Not sure how to determine the Sportage firmware level.

The phone seams to pair with the Sportage straight out of the box and it recognises my phone book since inbound calls display correctly on the head unit. I can use the steering wheel phone button to make outbound calls only if I know the number to say via 'by number'. The name recognition fails every time (EG calling Liz 'by name' results in Lewis being selected)

If the Sportage is recognising my phone book why can't I manualy select an entry through the head unit. I have found no reference to this functionality in any Kia documentation.

Can anyone clarify if this feature is part of the Sportage K3 spec or if I need to conduct some firmware upgrade to get it to work.

Thanks for any commenst on thsi subject, regards

Trevor

Trevor - when i asked this question back in the day a lot of peeps seemed to be having probs with blackberries. Most problems seemed to be sorted with phone updates. Type your phone model into a forum search and maybe, just maybe you'll find an answer. My Samsung Galaxy Ace does just what it's ment too Smile

I have had no probs with my Blackberry ( says he hand on desk) 9300. It does everything it says in the manual. My good lady also has a Blackberry 8520? with no issues.

Having said that I am the eternal optimist, with a week old Sportage.
