Why are the specifications for the PHEV vehicles not comparable with the diesel / petrol versions and so limited in comparison - we are looking to remain with Kia when the 3 year term on our Optima SW ends next year but the PHEV versions are a downgrade which will drive us away from Kia as a customer going forward...

We consider many factors when deciding the spec and kit levels of the PHEV. We need to consider the impact on weight and emissions of certain features as well as researching what is most important to a PHEV buyer.

Generally, a PHEV version sits in the middle of the standard range in terms of spec. For example, in the current Optima range:

‘2’ features a 6 speaker system, driver's seat 2-way Power Lumbar Support and black cloth upholstery.

‘PHEV’ adds the premium sound system with 10 speakers, Driver's Seat 4-way Power Lumbar Support and black cloth with faux Leather.

'GT-LINE S’ features the same premium sound system and adds a Front Passenger's Seat 2-way Power Lumbar Support and black leather upholstery (some parts may contain faux leather) with red stitching.

As our Eco range expands considerably over the next few years, we’ll see more trim levels introduced to give the eco market a wider number of options. Thanks for your feedback, this has been made available to our product team.
