I believe that is where the Cabin Temp is measured.
Do you have the LS with Automatic Climate Control?

yes it's the Kia ceed 1.6 crdi ls with auto climate control. But can't find anything about it in the owners manual.

yeah I thought that and was kinda hoping it was for an extra that wasn't put in. Do you think I could get a push button start installed?

It is the Cabin Temp Sensor

You can get Start Buttons but likely to be more trouble than it's worth.
For it to be Keyless, you would need to overcome the Steering Lock.
The Immobiliser Chip is in the Key and powered by a ring on the Ignition.

It's a microphone. The Korean government placed it there for better market perception.

I've been wondering the same, had mine since October and presumed it was the mic for the pointless hands free stereo?

I have a vr7 with manual air con and it's there on mine.
