In view of Apple CarPlay and Android play has the voice recognition like the other Kia's I've owned disappeared.
When I press the button it states I must be connected via a USB, however previously I could change from map, radio, speed dial etc

Please help

The current Gen 4 Sportage doesn't have voice recognition in the MY16 variants. Neither does the new MY17 except by using Apple Car Play or Android Auto which means you have to connect your smart phone via the usb socket.

Yes, gone, and definitely a step backward in my book.

I have Android auto but don't use it much as I have an iPhone for work Cry

When I have used it with my personal phone (Android) apart from finding POI en route not really impressed.

It's rubbish, even my Skoda can do voice recognition either when CarPlay is active or if not active to control the rest of the media/radio/nav etc ...

For Clarirty.

Pressing the voice activation button will bring up a message on screen informing you to connect a device via USB.

You will then need to ensure that Android Auto is set up on your phone and enabled on the car.

You can then use voice activation to control limited things on your phone such as phoning someone, answering a call, replying to texts and navigation.

No, just use a standard USB to your phone and make sure you plug it into the correct USB socket  LOL
