Mine has same symptoms as yours. My fuel tank ect are spotless. Ive been wondering if I might have a crack in my filter housing. I might take it off tomorrow and inspect it.

Hi guys, newbie here. Just bought a 2004 Sorento, 96k on the clock. 2nd trip out & suddenly engine stopped! No power steering etc. Pulled over, just. Several attempts & finally started engine again but engine fault light on all the time! Read this forum & decided to investigate the tank. Discovered loads of gunk in the filter inside the tank. Took a few pictures, lucky I didn't drop my phone inside, lol. Anyway, I will be contacting Kia customer care to see if I can get them to replace the tank. You never know eh? Great forum. My wife has a Kia ceed which we are happy with, so as I wanted a good tow car, thought I would try the Sorento?

It is only my personal opinion, but from past experience I wouldn't take a pram into Kia Werneth, Oldham

Like I said its my personal opinion but I've had plenty of dealings with Premier Auto, Dukinfield since 2008. My opinion is that they are an honourable family firm who try to go the extra mile for their customers. When I renew the Rio next year I wont bother going anywhere else.

I contacted Kia customer services today & they have told me to take the vehicle to my local dealer for tank inspection. If found delaminating , which they will, they will authorize a new tank free of charge! Although I will have to pay for the inspection, £90 plus new filter. Ho hum!

Yes definitely! I also asked them to checkout the rear axle brackets as I heard there may be a problem?
