it is difficult to tell if it is in 4x4 it normally comes in progressively depending on the amount of slip.
if you try to turn semi circle it does not want to turn, do not force it damage can be done. you could try some soft ground but with slip it will come in anyway. the sure way to tell is to wire a bulb across the mag clutch feed wire and ground. you can remove the tccs fuse in the drivers kick panel and that will disable the 4x4, if it is a face lift dash lights will come on but just ignore them for testing purposes. try iit with the fuse in then with it out.
